Export Finance Advisory

Funding-readiness support for international projects buying from the UK.

Ishtar helps overseas companies, project owners and buyers prepare the information needed to explore UK Export Finance, export credit, buyer finance and similar funding routes. This is particularly useful for projects in Iraq and MENA that need UK goods, services, engineering, technology or specialist suppliers.

Eligibility Triage

  • Review the buyer, country, project type, procurement route and funding need.
  • Check whether the opportunity appears linked to UK goods, services, suppliers or expertise.
  • Identify missing information before a formal approach to a funder or lender.

Application Pack

  • Prepare a structured project brief, company profile, value summary and document register.
  • Map likely UK content, supplier requirements, contract structure and delivery evidence.
  • Build a clean decision pack that can be shared with UKEF, lenders, advisers or suppliers.

Funding Route

  • Compare UKEF-style support with supplier credit, commercial lenders and development funding routes.
  • Support introductions, questions, clarifications and follow-up information requests.
  • Help clients understand next steps, risks, responsibilities and realistic submission timelines.

Information We Collect

A funding enquiry needs more than a short message.

The first consultation is used to turn a rough opportunity into a structured evidence pack. Clients do not need everything on day one, but the checklist shows what we will usually ask for.

01

Applicant and country

Company profile, registration country, ownership summary, sector, project location and buyer role.

02

Project and contract

Project brief, estimated value, currency, procurement status, intended contract route and delivery timeline.

03

UK supply chain

Known UK suppliers, required UK goods or services, expected UK content and any supplier gaps to fill.

04

Funding need

Loan, guarantee, insurance, supplier credit, working capital or a route that still needs to be defined.

05

Evidence available

Financial statements, permits, drawings, feasibility reports, contracts, purchase orders and technical records.

06

Decision path

Submission deadline, internal approval process, bank contacts, government stakeholders and key risks.

Consulting Route

How the paid advisory work is packaged.

  1. Readiness call: confirm the project, buyer, country, UK supply link and likely route.
  2. Document request: issue a focused list of documents and missing evidence.
  3. Funding pack: prepare the project narrative, eligibility notes, risk register and action list.
  4. Submission support: help respond to funder, lender or supplier questions.

Important Position

Ishtar is not UK Export Finance, a lender or a funder. We support readiness, information gathering and application preparation. Approval, pricing, eligibility and due diligence decisions remain with the relevant funder, lender, insurer or government body, and Ishtar does not guarantee approval or funding availability.

Official UKEF Route

UKEF can support international buyers where they purchase goods, services or intangibles from the UK supply chain, subject to product rules and eligibility. We help clients understand what information is needed before they approach that process.

Commercial Fee

Fees are agreed before work starts and can be scoped as an initial readiness review, a full funding pack, or ongoing support during funder and supplier discussions.
